DragonFlite 95 Yacht has followed on from the DF65 with a longer and slightly heaver yacht. Again designed in the UK and manufactured by Joysway Hobby, released in early 2016 it has seen a rapid growth in the last 18 months with to date (Feb 2019) 440 registered yachts in the UK. like the DF65 is again responsible for introducing a good number of new faces into the world of radio sailing.
This is a mid size RC Yacht being 950mm long and just 2KG. Moulded in ABS with Carbon keel fin and metal ballast, mylar sails and carbon fibre mast and booms. Controlled with a sail winch and rudder servo via a radio receiver and powered by internal battery. Today’s radio controls use a frequency hopping technology using 2.4GHz, this allows in excesses of 20 boats to sail at one time.
The Class is raced under rules as set out by DF Racing UK Class Association, a copy of which may be downloaded from: https://dfracinguk.com/df95/

Being a restricted class the rules prohibit much in the way of modification. Thus the boats are all identical in specification which results in racing that is close and competitive relying on the skills of the skipper’s sailing to achieve results. The class is raced at club, National and International level with fast growing fleets world wide.
Club Racing the the DF95 Yachts at Coalhouse Fort RYC takes place on the 2nd Sunday of each month throughout the year. Exceptions to this are when the lake is required for Regional or National events for any class of Yacht – see Club Calendar.
