Fantastic warm weather with a strong Easterly / North Easterly greeted the fleet in the morning. 10 Entries, including Angela and James.
North Easterly made it hard to get a good start line and a decent beat but from the second race onwards we settled on starting between 11 and a shore burgee, then a beat up to X port, then 7 Starboard, T to port, and then a run down to 13 port, two laps with a finish between, a string flag and buoy 11.
The wind increased as the day progressed and at the coffee break we had a mass change of rigs to B. Their were still a few nose dives and pirouettes even with this smaller rig.
The wind veered more to the east as the day progressed but we kept with the course. A few collisions due the strong winds but no one visited the dark side or got stuck for long on any mark. A few penalties but nothing major and all turns were done.
Racing was pretty tight, with Chris leading today followed by Paul, then Dennis managing to beat Glen by 1 point over 16 races.
A few boats dropped out over the day, mostly due to rigging failure. Angelas’ winch line block pulled out and others lost mainsheets etc.
Thanks to all for a very pleasant day on the water. I’ve got a very red nose and face and a bit sore from sun and wind burn, but it could be worse I could be orange. Regards, Paul
