A cloudy cooler start to the day gave way to a sunny day with temperatures up to 28 degrees. A nice breeze circa 6 – 10 knows crossed the low waters of the forts moat from a SSE ish direction. although this did vary a bit more Southerly at times. It was an absolutely glorious day to be at the lake sailing.
The water level was low, lower than the previous outing of the DF65 class, but the water loss seems to have stabilised a little over the last few weeks.
Just 2 Skippers attended today to dual it out. the deepest launch spot was identified at a join in the bank edge, to the left of the life buoy. Although there was insufficient depth to float next to the bank with short keels fitted, with a gentle push on the side launching was straightforward. With careful navigation between the underwater obstacles recovery was also straight forward.
The only incident of the day revolved around the starter packing up after race 4. Thankfully Phill had a copy of the audio files available on this phone, so racing could continue.
James joined in briefly, taking the helm of both 12 & 299 in races 7 & 8 respectively, to try the different setups.
13 races were held today. Buzz won the majority of these taking the overall win of the day, but not before allowing Phill to come through the final 2 races in first place.

Please all keep an eye out on the WhatsApp group regarding sailing dates, it may be possible to get a few more DF65 short keel sailing events in while the water levels remain too low for the other classes, watch this space.
